From ENOVIA/VPM to a new PLM

ENOVIA/VPM installations often stem from acquisitions or site histories: each unit brings its own system, its own numbering ranges and its own data quality. The result is media discontinuities in engineering, duplicated data maintenance and a legacy system for which administration know-how is increasingly missing.

The migration is therefore more than a data transfer: it is the consolidation onto a shared, cleaned data foundation – the basis for end-to-end processes in the new platform.

Our Migration Suite extracts, checks and transforms the legacy data rule-based: structures, metadata and CAD links are mapped onto the target system’s data model, and conflicts (e.g. colliding numbering ranges from several source systems) are resolved automatically. Every transfer is validated and logged – audit-proof.

After acquiring a larger business unit, ZF commissioned valexcon to consolidate engineering data from twelve different ENOVIA/VPM systems (with CATIA V5) into one central Windchill system. The project was completed within two years without data loss; the newly formed business unit has since been working on a shared, cleaned data foundation with high process reliability.
