Data migration
Clever solutions from valexcon for data migration to 3DEXPERIENCE
Existing data is one of a company's most valuable assets. This particularly applies to data from its own product development. The introduction of 3DEXPERIENCE often involves the migration of CAD and PDM data from legacy systems. This data must be migrated to 3DEXPERIENCE without any loss of quality. This process must take into account individual company requirements, the existing data inventory, and tracking of the migration history.
The data is analyzed during implementation and prepared before import. A migration database is used for analysis, preparation, creation, and status tracking of migration jobs. Delta migration (a component of the modules) allows for migration during ongoing operations—deltas are migrated multiple times if necessary.
The solutions migrate all CAD data without any loss of information, e.g., existing CATIA links are taken into account during the migration.
On-Demand Migration Suite
With our On-Demand Migration Suite, we offer a proprietary migration solution using standard Dassault Systèmes interfaces. We also utilize our own migration database for job management and data preparation. The data to be migrated to 3DEXPERIENCE is processed step by step (analysis, export from the legacy system, preparation, and import into 3DEXPERIENCE). A delta migration for data transfer during ongoing operations is part of the solution.
valexcon has years of experience with data migration; this is one of our specialties. We have established solutions for this that guarantee high data quality during migration with rapid implementation. A "Legacy View" is implemented in 3DEXPERIENCE, which displays the current data set of the legacy system. Using this view, the required data can be searched for and migrated on demand. Continuous synchronization with the legacy data allows for the creation of deltas during operation and, if necessary, multiple migrations.

File-based 3DEXPERIENCE import
When 3DEXPERIENCE is used as a new PDM system, CAD data is often distributed across one or more file systems. The CAD structures are now to be replicated in 3DEXPERIENCE. The scope of the data relevant for migration is determined by the customer. Copies of multiple models should be recognized and imported only once (use-based proof). The ongoing design process is not interrupted.
We offer a solution that has been successfully deployed multiple times and ensures high data quality. The module can be flexibly adapted to specific customer requirements, such as version and release history. Costs and project duration are very easy to plan.
